Topic B: Tell us about an expert/person in your field that you admire.
Good morning! Today I'm going to talk about a person I admire, whose work was an example and that allowed her to be renowned worldwide. I am referring to Frances O. Kelsey. Why do I admire her? Because of her determination. Not only did she dedicate her life to scientific and medical research, but she was a woman who had the courage and the intelligence to confront the large pharmaceutical industries of the United States in the 60s. Frances was born on July 24, 1914, in Canada. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in 1934, and later completed a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. In addition, she studied Medicine in 1946. Since leaving college, in 1960, she was hired by the FDA in Washington DC as a drug reviewer. Unfortunately, after receiving several awards, she passed away in 2015, at the age of 101.
